What is Kusto Query Language (KQL)
Kusto is a query language designed for big data workloads particularly using large amount of data in from things like logs and event sources. Kusto query is a read-only request to process data and return results. KQL is the first party query language for Kusto cluster used by Azure Data Explorer. Count Operator
The Count Operator of Kusto is similar as SQL Count operator. The main functionality is to count a data in the table base on what where declared. Returns the number of records in the input record set.

cluster('help.kusto.windows.net').database('Samples').StormEvents

Syntax
T | count
Arguments
T: The tabular data whose records are to be counted.
Returns
This function returns a table with a single record and column of type long
. The value of the only cell is the number of records in T.
